The the SKIDATA™ Coding Unit is an integral component of the Pay Station, Automatic Payment Machine, and Parking Column. It issues and processes parking permits on barcode tickets, magnetic stripe cards, smartcards, contactless media, and alternative data carriers.

We are of course always open to new technologies, which is why we take great care to make sure our products are prepared for future data carriers such as mobile phones, PDAs, headsets, air tickets, mag-stripe type rail tickets, etc.

APT 450 accepts various forms of payment, including credit cards, Electronic Purses, as well as various membership and customer cards in use today.

Barcode tickets

The cost-effective barcode ticket is environmentally friendly and provides a high degree of fraud protection.
It is intended primarily for use as a single-use short-term parking ticket, although it may also be used as a validation ticket.

Magnetic stripe cards

Magnetic stripe cards are supported to handle short-term tickets, credit cards, system-based value cards, as well as various customer and membership cards. Magnetic stripe cards are provided as an alternative medium for short-term tickets and long-term permits.

Credit cards can be used to operate the gates at entrance and exit points.

Smartcards

Smartcards are used mainly as Electronic Purse cards for cashless payment.

Contactless media

The SKIDATA™ keycard is a contactless data carrier designed for multiple use. Typical applications include contract parking permits and system-based value cards.

Alternative data carriers

Various common long-range media by NEDAP and other leading manufacturers can be integrated into the system via external reader terminals to allow for contactless gate operation. Other application-specific cards (e.g., electronic hotel keys) can also be integrated by way of external third-party readers.
