Gentex Smoke Detectors
The Gentex 7109 series photoelectric single station smoke detectors are designed to give reliable early warning of the presence of smoke where both audible and visual alarms are required. The series features a 90dB solid state piezo signal and a 177 Candela strobe with "FIRE" lettering. The strobe is listed per UL 1971. The smoke detector operates on the light scattering principle, a superior method of detection utilizing a pulsing LED light source and a photodiode sensor in a fully screened sensing chamber. Every four to five seconds the pulsing LED emits a infrared beam that bypasses the photodiode under normal conditions; however, when smoke enters the sensing chamber, the infrared beam is deflected onto the sensor by the smoke particles. The LED pulse rate increases to eight times the normal rate, and after the photodiode confirms that smoke is present for two consecutive pulses, it will produce the signal necessary to trip an alarm. Upon activation, the detector will emit a 90dBA local audible signal and activate the high intensity strobe. During the alarm period, the strobe will flash at a brightness of 177 Candela 60 times per minute. After the smoke has cleared from the detector, the unit will revert to the normal stand-by condition.
The Gentex 8000 Series of photoelectric detectors is specifically designed as a releasing device for commercial, industrial, residential and institutional applications. Gentex offers a full range of detectors that are compatible with four-wire control panels from leading manufacturers. The Gentex 8000 Series is engineered to provide outstanding performance wherever reliable fire protection is required. The Gentex 8000 Series provides and exclusive patented three position test feature that simulates a 0.85% and a 3.5% actual smoke condition, in full compliance with NFPA 72 and UL 268 Standards. The test feature has the capability to let you know when maintenance is required. A standard Form A dry contact for connection to the system initiating circuit and an auxiliary Form C dry contact are provided on all models. Other options include reverse/local 90dBA solid-state piezo horns and 135ºF fixed temperature self-restoring integral or isolated thermals to meet your specific requirements.
The Gentex 9000 Series of photoelectric smoke alarms is designed for residential applications, including homes, apartments, hospitals, hotels and motels, in compliance with UL 217, applicable IBC/IFC Standards and NFPA 72, Chapter 2. The Gentex 9000 Series is engineered to virtually eliminate nuisance alarms and deliver outstanding performance wherever reliable fire protection is required. The Gentex 9000 Series is provided with a 9VDC alkaline battery for back-up in the event building power is lost. The battery impedance is verified and the detector provides a low or missing battery warning. The Gentex 9000 Series provides and exclusive patented three position test feature that simulates a 0.85% and 3.5% actual smoke condition in full compliance with NFPA 72, Chapter 2 and UL Standards.
The Gentex GC Series is a ceiling mount strobe or horn/strobe combination that offers dependable audible and visual alarms and the lowest current available. The Gentex GC Series offers field selectable candela options of 15, 30, 75, 95, 115 and 150 candela. The Gentex GC Series horn offers a continuous or synchable temporal three in 2400Hz or mechanical tone. These tones are easy for the professional to change in the field using switches. The models are shipped from the factory in temporal alarm mode. The Gentex GC Series comes standard with the 4" mounting plate which incorporates the popular SuperSlide bracket that allows you to easily test for supervision. The Gentex GC Series has a minimal operating current and has a minimum flash rate of 1Hz regardless of input voltage. Commander 4 Series appliances are UL 464/1971 listed for use with fire protective systems and are warranted for three years from the date of purchase.
The Gentex Commander 2 Series is a low-profile strobe, horn or horn/strobe combination that offers dependable audible and audible/visual alarms and the lowest current available. The Gentex Commander 3 Series offers tamperproof field selectable candela options of 15, 30, 60, 75, and 110 candela. The 12VDC offers tamperproof field selectable candela options of 15, 30, 60, and 75 candela. The Gentex Commander 3 Series horn offers a continuous or synchable temporal three in 2400Hz and mechanical tone, a chime as well as a whoop tine. All tones are easy for the professional to change in the field by using switches. The GE3 Series has a minimal operation current and has a minimum flash rate of 1Hz regardless of input voltage.
